Our Therapies
We offer free NHS Talking Therapies in Rushmoor, Hart and Farnham for stress, anxiety, low mood and worry, as well as support for managing a long-term health condition. Additionally, we can provide employment support to those using our service. This is provided in partnership with Waythrough (formerly Richmond Fellowship).
What is CBT?
Cognitive behavioural therapy is a type of talking therapy that aims to change the way we think (cognition) and act (behaviour) in order to help cope with and manage problems we may face in our lives. It is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings and behaviour are closely linked and influence each other.
CBT aims to help us learn to recognise these unhelpful patterns, and break down and approach problems in a different way to improve how we feel.
What is counselling?
Counselling is a process of talking about and working through your personal problems with a counsellor.
Counselling provides a safe space for you to explore your feelings so that you can reach a better understanding of what is maintaining your difficulties. This process can lead to a shift in your perspective, enabling you to consider options and strategies to help you move forwards positively.
What is Silvercloud?
Once you have had your assessment with a therapist and you agree to sign up to Silvercloud, you will receive an email link to sign on to the platform. Silvercloud can be accessed on a smart phone, tablet, or desktop. There is also a free app that you can download.
The CBT programme is yours to access anytime, any location, for a year following your sign-up date. You will typically have 4-6 reviews (depending on your progress). In terms of modules, people typically do 1-2 per week, on average they take around 40 minutes to complete.
Practice is highly important in CBT, so Silvercloud will encourage you to engage with and carry out specific techniques as well as reading about them; it’s very much ‘the more you put in, the more you get out’. There are many course options, the best one for you can be discussed with the therapist during assessment, courses include: Space for Mindfulness, Sleep, Depression, Anxiety, Stress and money worries.
