Graded Exposure
Graded exposure is a CBT technique to help you to overcome your fears and tackle avoidance.
Graded exposure is an evidence-based treatment. When we fear certain situations objects or activities we tend to avoid or leave the situation in order to reduce our anxiety. Although this may be helpful in reducing our distress in the short term, in the longer term avoidance keeps the problem going.
The basic idea of graded exposure is to gradually expose yourself to the feared situation in a way that allows you to control your fear at each step.
